Looking for my Darcy, but finding only Wickham. Right now, I'd settle for Bingley.

    Re: Alltel Phone

I wish something would be finalized - I've been using the same beat up, dog chewed phone for 2.5 years, my contract is up and I'd like to know what's happening before I get a new service or new contract.
Same here, been waiting for I don't know how long before I do anything. I don't want a BB and I reckon that's all they can give you at Alltel in Norton to work with the change. Of course I talked to an AT&T rep the other day and they said you can get whatever you want and they have to give you what they have equivalent when it is finalized.

I just hope you don't soak your new phone when you do decide on what to do.

Phone goes in drybox soon as I get in the boat and don't come back out unless needed and then only while down and can only be dropped in the boat since then.

    Re: Alltel Phone

Finally an official announcement from Alltel!
When you go to alltel.com and type in the area code this is the page you're directed to:

    Alltel is joining AT&T

    Welcome to AT&T!

AT&T recently completed its acquisition of Verizon Wireless properties, including select Unicel and Alltel properties in your area. The transaction enhances AT&T?s wireless network coverage primarily in rural areas in 79 service areas in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. You can see a map of the acquired markets here.

AT&T is working to integrate the properties, to deliver on AT&T?s commitment to provide the best possible wireless experience, and to help you connect with what matters most to you, now and in the years to come.

How does this impact your service?

We understand that you have questions about how this transition will impact your wireless service. At this time, you do not need to do anything. Your current wireless service will continue to work as it does today. For now, there are no changes to your phone number, rate plan, network coverage, customer service, or how you make monthly bill payments.

    What happens next?

AT&T will launch service on a market-by-market basis as network integration is completed and your wireless service will transition to AT&T shortly afterwards. We will contact you and other affected subscribers shortly with more information about your service transition. In the meantime, if you have more questions, please read our FAQs.

    The AT&T advantage

    • Best network
      • The best coverage worldwide1 - the broadest global coverage of any U.S. carrier worldwide with voice roaming in over 215 countries and data access in over 180 countries
      • The nation?s fastest 3G network and the only carrier allowing customers to talk while emailing and browsing the Web.
    • Greatest value
      • AT&T A-List with Rollover? offering unlimited calling to up to 10 additional numbers on any network
      • The fairest value with Rollover? allowing customers to keep their unused minutes month to month
    • Best products
      • The best selection of smartphones - ranked #1 in customer satisfaction among smartphone users
      • The most innovative exclusive devices such as the iPhone? 4 and the BlackBerry? Bold?

With such a huge variety of plans and messaging packages to choose from, you'll find the perfect fit for you and your family.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

And, of course, we'll be the last to be transitioned. emoticonranting

    Re: Alltel Phone

The announcement still doesn't give me enough info to make a decision on my current cell service.

I'm with you SBG, we'll probably be the last in line.
    You'll shoot your eye out.
